No new pics. His comp was transferred and he had the pics on his camera. Hopefully Eric will be getting them. Anyway, had a baptism of a family of 7 this week. He was really excited and had a wonderful week. They had two more lined up but it kinda fell through. Anyway, he will find out who his new comp is in a couple of days. Right now he is with another set until his comp arrives. He states the language is coming along better, he is able to carry on conversations now, which he states is great.

Baptisms from Jojatla. Eric has now been transferred to Acapulco. He is certainly making the rounds in the country. Eric reports he is happy and working hard. His President wanted him to report to us that he appreciates his hard work and states he is a good missionary. Eric certainly doesn't give exhaustive reports about his journeys.

Not much to tell about the latest letter. A couple of one liners stating there isn't much going on new. They taught a family of 15 that are promising. Still working with a man who wants to "jump the border", but they are not holding alot of hope that things will change. Here Eric is with the snake they caught, and at the "ruins" in the town they are in.

So another week, another adventure. Bible bashing with tj, drug dealing and eating higado.
So its been intresting ... one of my more adventurous weeks. So we are going door to door looking for an investigator and knock on one door and an older lady stares at us. I do the door approach ans she says pasale. As we enter evil shows its face in the form if a testigo de jehovah (jehovah witness). She starts going off... wanting to bible bash... my comp invites her to have a lesson and she states that she doesn't accept our kind of people. My comp freaks out by that statement explains that we are ministers of God and why dont you accept the people. She tried to recover from that by saying we shouldn't be in mexico because we make mistakes with the language, we don't know the bible and some other things i didn't understand and then starts speaking in some weird dialect. ...Interesting. Then another day I was going to a comida (main meal of the day.. lunch here) and the first thing they bring out is liver. So I take a bite which suprised me that it wasnt to bad... kinda like dirt. The lady asks if I want to eat it all and I say yes, of coarse I'm a manly man. I'm a stupid manly man who was sick the rest of the day... threw up proselyting... really threw up that night and diaryia the next day and was living off of pepto the rest of the day. Everyone was trying to give me this herbel tea as if it wasnt hot enough out side. Until next week...Love, Elder Brown

Finally in Mexico

Finally in Mexico. Eric with the Mission President and his wife. Eric does look happy. He called from Ft Worth and was very happy to be out of jail...oh..I mean the MTC. He was one of 10 that left this week. Apparently, and we have it on good sources, the Mexican consulate is only signing 10 visas a week. There are about 70 missionaries overdue, with their departure date for the 21st. So Eric can count his lucky stars..as they are going in alphabetical order.

Latest words from Eric:
Says he is doing good and having a great time, even though others think he is crazy for it. His companion is Elder Canfield from Tokerville. He likes him alot. Says he is into motorcycles, has a YFZ450.
Says putting Carol's cheer stuff on the blog is more evidence of him being lost as a middle child... a bit of Eric's humor. Love you, bye..Elder Eric

Dear Family:
2/24/08
Hello. This is your missionary. I'm going to be writing on Wednesdays. That is my P-Day. I am very good right now. I like my companion, alot, and he is a really good guy. I am getting the language good and I know that right here is where I' m suppose to be. I am not only here to sav souls but to save my own soul...for the gates of heaven are closed for those who are alone.
Love,
Elder Brown
Short and sweet until he can write a little more on Wednesday. So we should have more info on Thursday or Friday...

As I mentioned, we went to Richfield last nite to watch Manti play. The bubster performed as usual. Because she looked so good cheering, and was able to get the crowd into the game, Manti beat Richfield, now we play against Parawon in the Championship game tonite.....go TEMPLARS...(gosh, is that the Knights Templars or Manti Templars...I'll have to ask Carol?) Had a request from Todd to change the background color before he puked. No word from the Ewoke yet. I guess he is doing fine. Penny signed up in a Mothers forum of missionaires. There are 9 Mothers in that forum who have Elders in the Mex-Cuern mission. One emailed her back. Said her son had been there for 8 months hadn't had an anglo companion...all were from the MC area. She said it really helped him with the language...We are going to Richfield tonite...later

The MTC

Just a newby at the MTC as of 20Feb08. Eric was happy to be there. We had to negotiate some of the staff not knowing how to answer some simple questions, but then I guess they don't get paid for that. They were good at pointing us down the hallway. Thanks.
Anyway, Eric is headed for Mexico Cuernavaca Mission. He will leave the MTC around the 20th of April. Good luck Eric
